The Espresso Book Machine
The biggest hurdle in the way of self published authors to success is that brick and mortar bookstores will not buy their books to display. Running a store is expensive. The store managers don’t want to take chances with unknown authors. If your book is not available through a brick and mortar bookstore, you lose 80% of the market share. According to Lulu’s owner, the largest self publishing company, the average number of books a title sells is 100. That is partly because Lulu’s cost per book is high, but also because brick and mortar bookstores don’t want to do much with self published books.
That is about to change. The EBM is a book making machine that can automatically print, bind and trim on demand at point of sale perfect bound library quality paperback books indistinguishable from their factory made versions.
The EBM 2.0 measures approximately 2.7 feet deep, 3.8 feet wide and 4.5 feet high. It can print 105 pages per minute in black and white or 35 pages per minute in full color.
The EBM will print, bind, and trim a 300-page book in less than four minutes with a high speed printer model. The trim size of a book is infinitely variable between 8.5” x 11” and 4.5” x 4.5” and the EBM Version 2.0 can bind up to 830 pages.
In the coming years EBMs will be installed everywhere, in bookstores, airports, malls, libraries, etc. Titles published through Felibri are listed in EBM's catalogue. Thanks to this innovative technology your book will be available everywhere. It's a great time to be a self publisher.
Yep! We've come a long way baby!
